Tom was born in White Plains and resides in the Westminster Ridge neighborhood with his family. His children are the fifth generation of Tom’s family to live in White Plains. Tom is a proud product of the public education system, from Kindergarten through law school.
Tom was elected to the Common Council in 2001, where he quickly earned a reputation for focusing on constituent service, sound fiscal management and the environment. The clean air restrictions on construction sites, which he spearheaded, remain part of the approval process in White Plains and have served as a model for other communities.
Tom became acting Mayor in February 2011, won a special election shortly thereafter, and was re-elected with close to 80% of the vote in 2013, higher than any other Democrat on the ballot that year.
As Mayor, he’s worked to get White Plains moving in the right direction. Now, Tom is running for re-election to continue the incredible momentum that’s been achieved by working together to turn our shared progressive values into real results.
